Baseball Recap: Beallsville Blue Devils vs. Conotton Valley Rockets
Beallsville had lost seven straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 2-15 to make it eight. They lost 19-0 to the Conotton Valley Rockets. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rockets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 23-1 back in April.
As for Conotton Valley, their record is now 12-8. The result was nothing new for the Rockets, who have now won nine matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
For Conotton Valley's part, Dylan Higgenbotham was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. What's more, Higgenbotham posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Conotton Valley's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 7-8 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Kam Wright was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaden Leggett, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Looking ahead, Beallsville will host Belpre at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Conotton Valley, they are taking a road trip to square off against Strasburg-Franklin at 5:45 p.m. on Monday.
