Basketball Game Preview: Riverside Pirates vs. Umatilla Vikings

Riverside is on a three-game streak of home losses, Umatilla a four-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck will change on Friday. The Riverside Pirates will welcome the Umatilla Vikings at 6:00 p.m. Riverside will be strutting in after a win while Umatilla will be coming in after a loss.

Riverside is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They really took it to McLoughlin for the full four quarters, racking up a 50-17 victory. With the Pirates ahead 25-3 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Riverside's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rocio Garay, who went 7 of 9 en route to 15 points. The dominant performance gave Garay a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jazzlyn Reyna, who posted nine points.

Meanwhile, Umatilla had to suffer through a 63-25 loss at the hands of Burns. The contest marked the Vikings' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Umatilla's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Riverside, they moved to 6-8 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Everything went Riverside's way against Umatilla in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as Riverside made off with a 28-7 win. Will Riverside repeat their success, or does Umatilla have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
