Softball Recap: Southwestern Drops Season-High Score on Boscobel

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Southwestern). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Boscobel Bulldogs an 18-0 shutout on Monday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Wildcats needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

Hailey Brant was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI.

In other batting news, Megan Roepsch was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Riley Lewerke, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Southwestern's record now sits at 6-14. As for Boscobel, they are on a 19-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-18.

As of now, neither Southwestern nor the Bulldogs have any future games scheduled.
