Baseball Recap: Culver Academies Triumphs

Culver Academies's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They walked away with a 7-3 victory over the LaVille Lancers. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Lancers: they've now won three in a row.

Max Grundberg made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one double. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Will Harris, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Thomas Oliver-Overmyer, who went 2-for-3 with four runs and two stolen bases.

Culver Academies hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive matchups.

The victory got Culver Academies back to even at 4-4. As for LaVille, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Culver Academies will welcome Knox at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for LaVille, they will face off against La Lumiere at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
