On Saturday, Seward faced Bethel in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Seward Seahawks snuck past the Bethel Warriors with a 39-33 victory. The win was nothing new for the Seahawks as they're now sitting on six straight.

Seward's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava Jagielski, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 18 boards. Jagielski is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least four every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Lia Shank, who went 7 for 15 en route to 15 points and five rebounds.

Seward's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Bethel, they moved to 9-2 with that loss, which also ended their eight-game winning streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Seward will square off against Susitna Valley at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Bethel, they will face off against Mt. Edgecumbe on January 27th.
