Basketball Game Preview: Envision Academy vs. De Anza Dons

Envision Academy hasn't had much luck against De Anza recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. Envision Academy will take on the De Anza Dons in a holiday battle at at 6:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Envision Academy will head into Thursday's game on the come-up: they were handed a heart-breaking two-point loss in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Richmond on Thursday. Envision Academy really took it to Richmond for the full four quarters, racking up a 61-25 victory. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 36-14.

Envision Academy found their leader in sophomore Chuka ACHINULO, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 32 boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points ACHINULO has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of MALIK MCKenzie, who posted four points along with 22 rebounds and five steals.

Envision Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 41 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask De Anza). They snuck past Skyline with a 67-63 win on Tuesday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Dons as it put an end to their four-game losing streak dating back to last season.

De Anza's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Envision Academy, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-5.

Envision Academy took a serious blow against De Anza when the teams last played back in November of 2019, falling 84-34. Can Envision Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
