Baseball Game Preview: Berthoud Spartans vs. Greeley Central Wildcats

For the second straight game, Berthoud will face off against Greeley Central. The Spartans will face off against the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Berthoud is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.

Berthoud was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Greeley Central on Saturday. The Spartans put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 14-4 win. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Wyatt Barmes made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with five stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Berthoud got a big performance out of Gideon Mosher, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave Mosher a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Eli Richardson, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Berthoud always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Greeley Central only posted an OBP of .364.

Greeley Central is on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-15. As for Berthoud, their record is now 5-11.
