Basketball Recap: Madison Makes It Five in a Row at Home

Madison had won four straight home games and Jordan Clay did his part to make it five on Wednesday. The Madison Mavericks strolled past the SA Roosevelt Rough Riders with points to spare, taking the game 74-58 thanks in part to Clay, who dropped a double-double with 24 points and 12 boards. He is becoming a predictor of Madison's success: when he posts at least eight rebounds the team is 4-1 (and 12-17 when he doesn't).

The team also got some help courtesy of Will Johnson, who went 5-for-7 on his way to 13 points and five assists. What's more, he also posted a 71% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's achieved since back in November of 2023.

SA Roosevelt's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isaac Castillo, who posted 15 points. Shai Markajani was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Madison has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 16-18 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.3 points over those games. SA Roosevelt is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-17.

Madison didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, an 85-64 loss against Harlan on the 18th. SA Roosevelt does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
