Recap: Sanderson Spartans vs. Enloe Eagles
The Sanderson Spartans won against the Enloe Eagles last Friday with 58 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Tuesday. Sanderson blew past Enloe 58-33. Given Sanderson's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 112th, while Enloe is ranked 334th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Sanderson to victory were Nathan Fife and Patrick Dalton. Fife scored 21 points, while Dalton shot 5-for-8 from deep and dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Fife has scored at least a third of Sanderson's points. Another player making a difference was Gordie Balas, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
Loss or not, Enloe got some senior leadership from Gift Moses and Bryson Cousar. Moses dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds, while Cousar. scored four points along with three steals.
Sanderson has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. As for Enloe, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-18.
Sanderson will be playing at home against Broughton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Sanderson's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matches. Enloe's road trip will continue as they head out to face Athens Drive at 8:00 p.m. on February 9th. Athens Drive is on a four-game streak of home losses, Enloe a four-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change.
