League recap: Phillips throws longest pass in league this season for St. Luke's Episcopal

Luke Phillips and Blake Fitzgerald provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Fruitdale. The longest such play in 1A Region 1 this season, the connection resulted in 75 yards.

Linden took down Essex 52-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Micheal Lewis was the best running back in the league this week. In 9 carries, he ran for 160 yards as Marengo beat the Pirates. Jatevin Horn also contributed to the rushing game with 85 yards on the ground.

St. Luke's Episcopal's Phillips and Fitzgerald led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-1 quarterback Phillips has thrown for 604 yards this season, while Fitzgerald has 21 catches for 366 yards. Horn from the Panthers leads the league in rushing with 1,139 yards.

An important game coming up in 1A Region 1 this week will be when Johnson takes on Marengo. The Eagles are currently in second, while Dredrick Bell's team is in third.

Johnson made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 10,596 from 10,938. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 56-20 victory over McIntosh last week.
