Hug extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 3-16 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Truckee Wolverines. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Wolverines this season, with their most recent defeat being a 20-2 loss on April 5th.

Juliana Ruiz put in work while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over 6.2 innings while giving up five earned runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Aubrie Sacauskas was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Daisy Torres was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
As for Truckee, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-8. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.8 runs over those games.
On Truckee's side, Olyvia Kay spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kaiya Rosario, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Another player making a difference was Ellyse Hutchins, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one double.
Hug has already played their next game, a 14-1 defeat against Sparks on the 28th. As for Truckee, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 13-1 loss against Foothill on the 25th.
