Baseball Recap: Pleasant Grove Wins Going Away Against Lone Peak

Pleasant Grove barely beat Lone Peak the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Vikings were the clear victors by a 13-5 margin over the Knights on Tuesday. Considering the Vikings have won 13 matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Mason Hawk Henry made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

In other pitching news, Noah Brady looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

Back at the plate, Drew Smith was incredible, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and four runs while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Keaton Nordick, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one double.

Pleasant Grove was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in five consecutive games.

Pleasant Grove pushed their record up to 19-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Lone Peak, they moved to 11-12 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Pleasant Grove will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Knights: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
