Basketball Recap: Rocklin Comes Up Short

Rocklin lost to Folsom on January 5th and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Thunder were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 53-52 to the Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Thunder can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 287th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 30th).

Folsom found their leader in sophomore Parks Weaver, who shot 44% from the field on his way to 23 points. Weaver's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 19 points. Another player making a difference was Joven Dulay, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and nine boards.

Rocklin has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-11 record this season. As for Folsom, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season.

Rocklin has already played their next contest, a 56-55 loss against Oak Ridge on the 28th. As for Folsom, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 80-57 win against Davis Sr. on the 28th.
