Softball Recap: Dixon Wins Going Away Against Woodland

Dixon won the last time they faced Woodland and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Rams blew past the Wolves 13-3. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won six matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Dakota Gaball spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, Dixon got a massive performance out of Olivia Gomez, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Adi Martinez also deserves some recognition as she hit her first doubles of the season.

Dixon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Woodland only posted a batting average of .167.

The win made it two in a row for Dixon and bumps their season record up to 7-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Woodland, they dropped their record down to 4-12 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dixon will head out to take on Sutter at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Rams' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Huskies have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season. As for Woodland, they will venture away from home to square off against Destiny Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lions will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Wolves surely won't give up without a fight.
