Softball Recap: Eastside Catholic's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak at Home

Eastside Catholic hadn't done well against Holy Names Academy recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Crusaders put the hurt on Holy Names Academy with a sharp 12-4 victory. The result was nothing new for the Crusaders, who have now won five matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

Elysse Williams made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Williams was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Maicey Woolston was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Julian Crawford also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Eastside Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in five consecutive games.

Eastside Catholic's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-10. As for Holy Names Academy, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Eastside Catholic will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Lincoln at 7:00 p.m. on the 28th. As for Holy Names Academy, they will challenge Seattle Prep at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
