Joel Fitz made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mark Fitz, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jett Burger, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
Southern Fulton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .400 or higher in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Fannett Metal beat Claysburg-Kimmel 8-5 on Wednesday.
Southern Fulton pushed their record up to 13-0 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Fannett Metal, their victory bumped their record up to 10-3.
Everything went Southern Fulton's way against Fannett Metal in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Southern Fulton made off with a 10-0 win. Will the Indians repeat their success, or do Fannett Metal have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
