Volleyball Recap: Arroyo Beats South El Monte for Their Third Straight Victory

Arroyo hadn't done well against South El Monte recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Knights skirted past the Eagles 3-2. This was a revenge game for the Knights: when they faced off against the Eagles on September 8th, they had to take a 3-1 loss.

Arroyo was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The final score came out to 25-11, 17-25, 18-25, 25-18, 17-15.

The victory (which was Arroyo's third in a row) raised their record to 5-10. As for South El Monte, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8.

Arroyo and South El Monte could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Knights will challenge Marshall at 4:30 p.m. on Friday with a big rank disadvantage (1167 vs. 440). Meanwhile, South El Monte (ranked 838th) will meet Gabrielino (ranked 308th) at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
