Baseball Recap: Penfield Comes Up Short

Penfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 14-8 to the Hilton Cadets. The Patriots were not able to make up for their loss to the Cadets from their previous meeting back in May of 2025.

Penfield got a good showing from Cody Murray, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest earned runs Murray has allowed since back in March.

On the hitting side, Ryan Ritchlin was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Matt Scibienski, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Penfield's record now sits at 4-7. As for Hilton, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-5.

While Penfield had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
