Baseball Recap: Covenant Christian Takes a Loss

Covenant Christian extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 8-16 in the process. They came up short against the Western Michigan Christian Warriors, falling 10-0. Surprisingly, this marked the Chargers' third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

As for Western Michigan Christian, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 12-5. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by seven runs or more this season.

For Western Michigan Christian's part, the result came thanks to Will Liggett's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up seven Ks. Liggett has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Western Michigan Christian saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alex Wagenmaker, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most runs Wagenmaker has posted over his last 11 matchups.

Looking ahead, Covenant Christian will host Coopersville at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Broncos' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Chargers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Western Michigan Christian, they will head out to square off against Calvary at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
