Baseball Recap: Murrieta Mesa Comes Up Short

Murrieta Mesa dropped their record down to 13-8 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 13-5 to the Temecula Valley Golden Bears. Rams fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Golden Bears since on Friday.

Murrieta Mesa got a good showing from Morgan Dorlaque, who pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. That's the first time Dorlaque hasn't allowed a single earned run since April 1st.

On the hitting side, Murrieta Mesa saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cooper Child, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Zach Janczyk was another, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

As for Temecula Valley, their record now sits at 12-9. The game was the first time they have beaten Murrieta Mesa on their field since April 26, 2023.

On Temecula Valley's side, Scott Forest looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Forest has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Stone Tucker was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Isiah Rauseo, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Murrieta Mesa will head out to square off against Vista Murrieta at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Broncos will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Rams surely won't give up without a fight. As for Temecula Valley, they are taking a road trip to challenge Great Oak at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Wolfpack will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Golden Bears surely won't give up without a fight.
