Preview: Hastings Raiders vs. South St. Paul Packers
Hastings is 8-2 against South St. Paul since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Hastings Raiders will head out on the road to face off against the South St. Paul Packers at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, Hastings beat Two Rivers 63-53. The win was just what Hastings needed coming off of a 73-46 loss in their prior matchup.
Meanwhile, South St. Paul had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 59-37 margin over North.
Hastings' victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-7. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.5 points per game. As for South St. Paul, their victory bumped their record up to 10-12.
Everything came up roses for Hastings against South St. Paul when the teams last played back in January as the squad secured a 58-30 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hastings since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
