The Wayne Blue Devils will venture away from home to challenge the Platteview Trojans on Monday. Wayne is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.

Wayne is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Central City/Centura just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Kernels by a score of 4-3.

Wayne got a good showing from Gavin Anderson, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Anderson has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Platteview's offense. They fell 4-0 to Ralston on Thursday. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Platteview also got a good showing from Michael Quinn, who tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits.

At the plate, Platteview saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Logan Grosdidier, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base. That hit was Grosdidier's first of the season.

Wayne's defeat dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Platteview, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

Wayne might still be hurting after the 14-3 loss they got from Platteview in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Blue Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
