Basketball Recap: Canton Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

The home team had won the previous seven meetings between Canton and North Shelby, and Canton kept the tradition alive. The Tigers walked away with a 47-37 win over the Raiders on Friday. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 100th, while the Raiders are ranked 244th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Canton's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.2 points on average over those games. As for North Shelby, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

Canton and North Shelby will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next games. The next time the Tigers see the court they'll take on Hamilton/Warsaw at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th. As for North Shelby, their break will end when they face Salisbury at 6:00 p.m. on February 9.
