Soccer Recap: Lakewood Ranch Takes a Loss

If Lakewood Ranch was feeling good fresh off their 5-1 takedown of Parrish Community last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lakewood Ranch Mustangs fell just short of the Sarasota Sailors by a score of 1-0 on Friday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Mustangs came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 49th, while the Sailors are ranked 177th).

Lakewood Ranch's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4-2. As for Sarasota, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-6-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lakewood Ranch will take on Palmetto at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Sarasota, they will challenge North Port at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sarasota is facing North Port at the right time seeing as North Port is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
