Football Recap: Leuzinger Extends Winning Streak to Eight + How To Watch

It's playoff time, and Leuzinger had no trouble coming through when it counted. They had just enough and edged out the Chaparral Pumas 19-16. The victory was nothing new for the Olympians as they're now sitting on eight straight.

Journee Tonga produced another solid performance rushing for 212 yards and three scores while picking up 8.2 yards per carry. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 110.5 rushing yards per game.

Another reason for the win was Leuzinger's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. Leading the way was Samu Moala with two. He also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with 11. Another thorn in Chaparral's side was Fakaanga (Sharkee) Vanisi, who picked up a sack and made 12 total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Several Pumas players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dane Weber, who rushed for 36 yards and one touchdown, and also threw for 145 yards and one TD. Trevor Schneider helped out on the ground, rushing for 125 yards.

Leuzinger's win bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Chaparral, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.

Leuzinger wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 35-7 loss against San Clemente on the 21st. Chaparral does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
