Baseball Recap: Sand Rock Wildcats vs. Appalachian Eagles
Sand Rock was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against the Appalachian Eagles, falling 10-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-6 back in February.
Cam Gifford was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave him a new career-low. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.
Gifford wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Carson Wiford, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Another was Ryker Woodall, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
Sand Rock's defeat dropped their record down to 7-21. As for Appalachian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-3 record this season.
As of now, neither Sand Rock nor Appalachian have any future games scheduled.
