Baseball Recap: Wiggins Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Wiggins, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. Everything went their way against the Sedgwick County Cougars on Friday as they made off with a 15-0 victory. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by six runs or more this season.

Wiggins got a massive performance out of Isaac Flores, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Flores is becoming a predictor of the Tigers' success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 2-1 (and 3-5 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Arath Carrazco, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Wiggins was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .478. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.

Wiggins pushed their record up to 5-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Sedgwick County, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Wiggins beat the Cougars by a score of 15-2 later that day.
