Vernon is 8-2 against Wewahitchka since December of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Vernon Yellowjackets are taking a road trip to challenge the Wewahitchka Gators at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with 29 consecutive losses dating back to last season for Vernon and four for Wewahitchka.

Last Friday, Vernon took a blow against Graceville, falling 79-28.

Meanwhile, Wewahitchka was beaten by Port St. Joe 65-25 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Gators can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 697th, while the Tiger Sharks are ranked 227th).

Vernon's loss dropped their record down to 0-17. As for Wewahitchka, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-13.

Vernon couldn't quite finish off Wewahitchka when the teams last played back in December of 2024 and fell 40-37. Can Vernon avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
