Baseball Recap: York Institute Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Smith County, York Institute was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Jackson County Blue Devils a 10-0 shutout. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Dragons considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Andrew Wright was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and three runs. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of David Stewart, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

York Institute always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jackson County only posted an OBP of .167.

York Institute has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.9 runs over those games. As for Jackson County, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-17.

York Institute wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 20-10 victory against Wartburg Central on the 18th. As for Jackson County, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 19-3 loss against Cumberland County on the 18th.
