For the second straight game, Apple Valley will face off against Oak Hills. The Sun Devils will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against the Bulldogs at 3:15 p.m. Apple Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.

Apple Valley's last matchup with Oak Hills could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Tuesday. The Sun Devils lost 20-8 to the Bulldogs. The defeat continues a trend for the Sun Devils in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost four in a row.

For Oak Hills' part, Nick Ford looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Ford has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, James Juarez was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one double. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Connor Wagner, who scored three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Oak Hills always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .535. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win (which was Oak Hills' third in a row) raised their record to 9-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Apple Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 11-5.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Apple Valley has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Oak Hills struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.9 strikeouts.
