Basketball Recap: West Columbus Comes Up Short on the Road Against West Bladen

West Columbus kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They took a 34-23 hit to the loss column at the hands of the West Bladen Knights. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it 13 in a row.

Despite the defeat, West Columbus had strong showings from Demya Powell, who posted five points and ten rebounds, and Makayla Lowery, who had five points and five boards. Powell has been hot recently, having also posted two or more blocks the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Iyana Lowery, who put up 11 points.

West Bladen's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Columbus will welcome South Columbus at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for West Bladen, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against East Columbus at 6:00 p.m. on December 2.
