Football Recap: Crawfordsville Takes a Loss

Crawfordsville had lost four straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 3-5 to make it five. They came up short against the Greencastle Tiger Cubs, falling 38-14. If the Athenians were looking for revenge after losing 27-6 to the Tiger Cubs when the teams met back in August of 2021, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Although Crawfordsville took the loss, they still got scores from Landon Gerold and Daniel Surface.

As for Greencastle, the win got them back to even at 4-4. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their 13-point performance the contest before.

Cole Stephens had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 390 yards and three TDs while completing 79.3% of his passes, and also rushing for 40 yards and one score. Greencastle is 4-1 when Stephens posts three or more passing touchdowns, but 0-3 otherwise. The Tiger Cubs' leading receiver Trevin Long was Stephens' top target yet again, picking up 146 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Looking ahead, Crawfordsville will be playing in front of their home fans against Frankfort at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Athenians will be up against the Hot Dogs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 53.13 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Greencastle, they will challenge Southmont at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
