Recap: Fleming Island Golden Eagles vs. Oakleaf Knights
The Fleming Island Golden Eagles have not had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They enjoyed a cozy 53-35 victory over Oakleaf on Friday. For Fleming Island, this counts as revenge for the 49-28 defeat Oakleaf walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.
London Jenkins was her usual excellent self, scoring 16 points along with seven steals and six assists. She also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Devyn Dudones, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Fleming Island's victory bumped their record up to 5-10. As for Oakleaf, their loss dropped their record down to 5-13.
Fleming Island will play host again and welcome Menendez, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Menendez is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. Oakleaf won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Raines at 1:30 p.m. on January 13th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Raines is ranked 232nd, while Oakleaf is ranked 250th).
