The Crescenta Valley Falcons are taking a road trip to square off against the Mark Keppel Aztecs at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Crescenta Valley made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Temple City, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Falcons blew past the Rams 24-3 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Falcons.
Addison Wong made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. Wong was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those two runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Chloe Mulcahey, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, nine RBI, and four runs. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Alexa Johnson, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, two triples, and one RBI.
Crescenta Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Mark Keppel won against Bell Gardens on Tuesday with nine runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Aztecs never let Alhambra get on the board and left with a 9-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Aztecs in their matchups with the Moors: they've now won five in a row.
Robyn Guitron was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Avigail Navarro was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5. Ruby Ramirez also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Crescenta Valley's record now sits at 8-4. As for Mark Keppel, their record is now 10-3.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Crescenta Valley has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.2 hits per game. However, it's not like Mark Keppel struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
