Basketball Recap: Monroe Beats Marysville Getchell for Their Ninth Straight Victory

Monroe had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.4 points) and they went ahead and made it nine on Friday. They took down Marysville Getchell 51-37. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 52-39 back in January.

Despite the loss, Marysville Getchell still got an impressive performance from Arion Palacol, who posted 16 points in addition to six boards and four steals. Palacol's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Harris, who earned ten points.

Monroe's win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.7 points per game. As for Marysville Getchell, the loss snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 13-6 record.

Monroe and Marysville Getchell should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Washington Rankings. Monroe (ranked 43rd) will meet Marysville-Pilchuck (ranked 335th) at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Similarly, Marysville Getchell will challenge Snohomish at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday up 131 places (71 vs. 202).
