Shannon was handed a three-set defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Itawamba Agricultural Indians. This was a revenge game for the Red Raiders: when they faced off against the Indians on September 4th, they had to take a 3-2 loss.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Shannon got the one that really mattered. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-27, 25-20, 19-25, 15-12.

Despite the defeat, Itawamba Agricultural saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Caylee Beasley had six digs and five aces. Sydney Wade also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assists of the season.

Shannon's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-13. As for Itawamba Agricultural, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-11 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Shannon is set to face off against their familiar foe Mooreville at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Itawamba Agricultural will take on rival Amory at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
