Volleyball Game Preview: El Segundo Eagles vs. Santa Monica Vikings

The El Segundo Eagles are taking a road trip to challenge the Santa Monica Vikings at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. El Segundo will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.

El Segundo proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by three) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over Windward. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted since March 22, 2024.

El Segundo had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 18-25, 20-25, 25-22, 25-18, 15-13.

Meanwhile, Santa Monica waltzed into their game on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the Eagles 3-0.

Santa Monica pushed their record up to 7-4 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. As for El Segundo, their win bumped their record up to 4-0.

El Segundo came up short against Santa Monica when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 2-0. Can El Segundo avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
