AJ Charpentier turned in yet another pitching appearance with more than seven strikeouts on Tuesday. He struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk), good enough for us to rate the performance as the best he's had all season long. He has become a key player for Jacksonville: the team is 5-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 12-13 otherwise.

Charpentier's strong effort led Jacksonville over Springfield Southeast and he'll get a chance to do so again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Crimsons are 9-1 against the Spartans going back to May of 2019, a lead they'll look to extend.
