Basketball Game Preview: North Boone Vikings vs. South Beloit Sobos

North Boone hasn't had much luck against South Beloit recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Vikings will square off against the Sobos at 9:00 a.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Thursday, North Boone lost to Richmond-Burton on the road by a 73-57 margin.

South Beloit hasn't had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They blew past Alden-Hebron 68-44 on Wednesday. With that win, the Sobos brought their scoring average up to 50.5 points per game.

South Beloit's win came from a few key players that North Boone will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Nico Noble, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten assists. Those ten assists gave him a new career-high. Coltan Porter was another key player, putting up 18 points in addition to seven rebounds and three blocks.

South Beloit was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive games.

North Boone now has a losing record of 7-8. As for South Beloit, their record is now 6-11.

North Boone ended up a good deal behind South Beloit when the teams last played back in February of 2025, losing 56-40. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
