Basketball Game Preview: Sierra Stallions vs. Sand Creek Scorpions

The Sierra Stallions will square off against the Sand Creek Scorpions at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Sierra has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with 11 straight defeats, while Sand Creek will come in with four straight victories.

Sierra is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They were dealt an 85-49 loss at the hands of Harrison on Saturday. The Stallions were down 68-39 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Meanwhile, Sand Creek earned a 56-47 win over Air Academy on Monday. Given the Scorpions' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 60th, while the Kadets are ranked 221st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Sand Creek's victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Sierra, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-10.

Sierra couldn't quite finish off Sand Creek when the teams last played back in February of 2024 and fell 56-54. Can Sierra avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
