Basketball Recap: Titus King's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Laguna Creek over Franklin

Laguna Creek was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Franklin Wildcats, falling 87-64. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (58), the Cardinals still had to take the loss.

Laguna Creek lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Titus King, who went 5-for-10 on his way to 15 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. Laguna Creek is 2-1 when King posts three or more steals, but 5-19 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jaylan Virgil, who went 6-for-11 to rack up 15 points.

Aiden Rollins was his usual excellent self, going 8-for-9 en route to 17 points and six assists for Franklin. Hayden Trach was another key player, dropping a double-double with 12 points and 12 boards.

Laguna Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 7-20. As for Franklin, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 22-5 record this season.

Laguna Creek has already played their next match, an 87-49 loss against Sheldon on the 14th. As for Franklin, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 62-55 defeat against Monterey Trail on the 14th.
