Two dominant signal callers in James Dellavolpe and Ryan Love are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. After both having extra time off, the Warde Mustangs and the Ludlowe Falcons will shake off the rust and duke it out at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. Warde has given up an average of 25.6 points per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Last Saturday, Warde came up short against Norwalk and fell 39-32. The loss continues a trend for the Mustangs in their meetings with the Bears: they've now lost three in a row.
The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Dellavolpe and Easton Pace. Pace had a great game and rushed for 236 yards and three TDs while picking up 12.4 yards per carry. Meanwhile, Dellavolpe was balling out in the loss, throwing for 348 yards and four touchdowns, while also punching in one score on the ground.
Warde didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jaylen Jacobs and Liam Carafotes.
Meanwhile, Ludlowe faced Staples in a battle between two of the state's top teams last Friday. The Falcons came out on top against the Wreckers by a score of 28-21.
Warde better keep an eye on Liam Bond. He was instrumental in Ludlowe's win, rushing for 52 yards and four TDs, while also picking up 43 receiving yards. That's the most rushing touchdowns Bond has posted since back in November of 2024.
Ludlowe's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB three times. In that department, Carlo Noecker was the leader with two sacks. He has been hot, having also posted five or more total tackles the last six times he's played.
Ludlowe's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Warde, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.
Warde suffered a grim 38-16 defeat to Ludlowe in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Bond, who rushed for 204 yards and four scores while picking up 12.0 yards per carry, and also picked up 37 receiving yards.
