Football Recap: Woodland Cougars vs. Pawhuska Huskies
Woodland came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They were outmatched by the Pawhuska Huskies and fell 44-12. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Huskies apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.
Despite the loss, Woodland still got an impressive performance from Jaston Terry, who picked up 141 receiving yards, and also punched in one rushing score.
Vann Wildcat had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 114 yards and one TD on only 12 carries for Pawhuska. Wildcat also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making 21 total tackles (2.0 for loss) and defending one pass. Kane Foreman also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Woodland now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Pawhuska, the win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Woodland and Pawhuska should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Oklahoma Rankings. The Cougars will face off against Porter at 7:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (86 vs. 240). Meanwhile, Pawhuska (ranked 71st) will meet Oklahoma Union (ranked 244th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
