League recap: Northwest Whitfield tops Heritage to extend winning streak

Adding to the longest winning streak in AAAA Region 7B this week, Northwest Whitfield beat Heritage 49-7. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.

Northwest Whitfield took down Heritage 49-7 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Dalton's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Payton Veraldi threw for 101 and 2 touchdowns and Chase Westfall had 50 yards receiving. On the ground Veraldi contributed 58 yards. Peter Sigmon helped Dalton's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 30 yards.

The Catamounts' dynamic duo of Veraldi and Westfall proved tough for Ridgeland to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Sigmon helped Dalton's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 30 yards.

Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Tim James' team's Dylan Bice and Christian King have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-3 quarterback Bice has thrown for 309 yards this season, while King has 12 catches for 265 yards. Dalton's Kelvis Rhodes leads the league in rushing yards with 341.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Matt Land's team takes on Josh Robinson's team. At the moment, the Catamounts are in third, while the Bruins are in first.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Dalton takes on Northwest Whitfield. The Catamounts have allowed 67 points this season, while the Bruins have given up 91. Dalton allowed 0 points last week as it beat the Panthers.
