Softball Recap: Mt. Vernon Yellowjackets vs. Newark Catholic Green Wave
Mt. Vernon waltzed into their match on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Newark Catholic Green Wave as they made off with an 11-1 victory. That's two games straight that the Yellowjackets have won by exactly ten runs.
Miranda Oswalt looked comfortable as she tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Mt. Vernon got a massive performance out of Hailey Rudrick, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jocelyn Scarbury, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI.
