Softball Game Preview: Gates County Red Barons vs. Bear Grass Charter Bears

Gates County hasn't had much luck against Bear Grass Charter recently, but that could start to change on Monday. Gates County will challenge Bear Grass Charter at 6:00 p.m. Gates County has given up an average of 8.6 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Gates County came up short against Martin County on Friday, falling 18-1. The Red Barons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Gates County saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zoey Nowell, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple. That triple marked the first that Nowell hit this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bear Grass Charter). They put the hurt on John Paul II Catholic with a sharp 24-8 win on Friday. That's two games straight that the Bears have won by exactly 16 runs.

The victory made it two in a row for Bear Grass Charter and bumps their season record up to 6-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 20.0 runs over those games. As for Gates County, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Gates County suffered a grim 15-5 defeat to Bear Grass Charter in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can Gates County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
