Baseball Recap: Plainview Takes a Loss

Plainview extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 9-8. They lost 15-1 to the Elizabeth Bulldogs. The Hornets were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bulldogs earlier this season, when they won 3-2.

As for Elizabeth, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-3 record this season. The result was nothing new for Elizabeth, who have now won 17 games by seven runs or more so far this season.

For Elizabeth's part, Jagger Willis was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over four innings pitched. Willis has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Elizabeth got a massive performance out of Cohen Locke, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Locke has posted since March 3rd. Another player making a difference was Carter Chamberlain, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Plainview will take on Marksville at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Elizabeth, they will face off against Pitkin at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
