Softball Recap: Lassen Comes Up Short

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Tuesday as neither Lassen nor University Prep made it on the board until the eighth inning. The Grizzlies fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 3-2. The Grizzlies were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Panthers earlier this season, when they won 5-4.

Cadence Morris spent all 7.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits.

At the plate, Lassen saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Patty Carvalho, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Nalah Ackley was another, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Lassen has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-9 record this season. As for University Prep, they pushed their record up to 13-10-2 with the victory, which was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Lassen is set to take on their familiar foe West Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, University Prep will challenge rival Anderson at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
