Preview: Wyoming Cowboys vs. Shawnee Braves
The Wyoming Cowboys will be playing in front of their home fans against the Shawnee Braves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Wyoming comes in on three and Shawnee on eight.
Wyoming extended their postseason success on Friday against Taft. They walked away with a 35-26 victory over the Senators. The final score was a far cry from the score of their previous head-to-head, which saw the teams combine for seven points.
Wyoming's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Joel Hancock, who rushed for 185 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 81 receiving yards. Hancock has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Quaid Hauer, who rushed for 11 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Shawnee stacked a tenth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Urbana 42-7 at home. Given Shawnee's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 98th, while Urbana is ranked 237th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wyoming pushed their record up to 11-1 with that victory, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 32.3 points per game. As for Shawnee, their victory bumped their record up to 11-1.
Everything came up roses for Wyoming against Shawnee in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 as the squad secured a 35-0 win. Will Wyoming repeat their success, or does Shawnee have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
