Softball Recap: Clinton's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

After low-scoring totals in their previous three contest, Clinton brought some dynamite into their most recent matchup. They never let the Racine Horlick Rebels get on the board and left with a 13-0 victory on Saturday. With that win, the Cougars brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Ashley Theisen looked comfortable as she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Keylee VanderPahl, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Maycee Morris, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and one double.

Clinton hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

The victory snapped Clinton's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 12-9 record. As for Racine Horlick, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.

Clinton will square off against Wilmot at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Cougars are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Racine Horlick, they will venture away from home to square off against Kenosha Tremper at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
